Our monthly look at the questions in the CON29DW moves onto section 4 – charging – with a look at the suppliers of sewerage and water services.

Question 4.1 of the CON29DW is split into two sections, 4.1.1, which asks “who is responsible for providing the sewerage services at the property?” and 4.1.2, which asks the same for water services.

Changes to drainage and water searches pricing from 1st April 2017

We are making some changes to the pricing of our range of drainage and water searches from Saturday 1st April 2017.

The price of the CON29DW Drainage and Water Enquiry will increase by £2 to £47 (£56.40 Inc. VAT). Other Severn Trent residential drainage and water searches will increase by the same amount.

Private Sewer Transfer – Introduction

On 1st October 2011 the majority of private sewers and lateral drains in England and Wales transferred into public ownership, meaning they are now the responsibility of the relevant sewerage undertaker. This was the biggest change in sewer ownership since 1989 and has a number of implications for property owners, as well as conveyancers.
