CON29DW searches given the green light for HIPs

Government trials of the new Home Information Packs have confirmed the need for CON29DW Drainage and Water Searches to remain a key component of the new Home Information Packs due to be introduced in June.

The Government has released a new consultation paper, addressing some of the issues that have arisen throughout the initial HIP trial period. Recommended by the Law Society, Con29DW is the official Drainage and Water Search and its success in the trials means that it remains an integral part of the HIP.

The Water Companies of England and Wales have welcomed the update which ensures that CON29DW Drainage and Water searches are still a required element in the Home Information Packs.

“The water companies have worked extremely hard to make sure that CON29DW is the premium standard for Drainage and Water Searches and this update reflects that fact. We are committed to providing excellent customer service and consumer protection and this will become even more important as the public prepares for big changes in the housing market,” says Patsy Day, Chairperson of the CON29DW Working Group.

The Water Companies of England and Wales are working hard to provide accurate reports, fast. Results show that the majority of water companies have turned around 95% of CON29DW Drainage and Water Enquiries in 5 working days, and in many cases as little as 24 hours. These fast turnaround times help to ensure HIPs are produced as quickly as possible.

As the owners and guardians of public sewer and water supply networks in England and Wales, the water companies have a deep understanding of the technical infrastructure of the sewerage and water system. Through a multi-million pound investment, they are ensuring they are ready for the HIPs launch on June 1st 2007, whilst continuing to offer excellent levels of service.
