CPD Conferences in October

Leicester Commercial CPD

Thursday 1st October saw Severn Trent Searches hold a Commercial CPD conference at the Hilton Hotel in Leicester. Delegates from across the East Midlands attended the 3 hour CPD to here about the issues within the commercial conveyancing search market.

Speakers on the day included:

Mark Jarvis, General Manager at Severn Trent Searches who spoke about the Commercial Drainage and Water search. This covered areas such as connection status, location of pipes and water quality surrounding a particular commercial site/unit.

Richard Fixter and Daniel Howard from Central Networks talked about the Electricity Network Distribution Search. This included the dangers of voltage lines and cables and how to identify any lines and cables within a search through the network plans.

Anthony Rollason of Landmark Information Group presented on Landmark Commercial Environmental reports, to give a better understanding on contaminated land within an site. Anthony also included information regarding flooding and the impact surface water flooding can have on a commercial property.

To conclude the day, Austin Baggett from National Energy Services spoke about Commercial EPC's. This allowed the delegates to gain a better understanding of when an EPC is needed, what information it tells you and possible ways to improve your carbon footprint by making small changes to the commercial property/site.

Hereford Residential CPD

The following week on Wednesday 7th October, a 2 hour Residential Conference was held in Hereford. Delegates around the Hereford region attended the conference to hear presentations on the following topics:

From Severn Trent Searches, Mark Jarvis presenting on the CON29DW Drainage and Water Enquiry. Giving details about the connection status, location of pipes public pipes and responsibility for water and drainage pipes for residential properties.

Also from Severn Trent Searches Owen Davies discussed industry views on the future of HIPs. Looking into the current situation and how HIPs could be improved going forward.

Finally, Teresa Farmer of Herefordshire Council presented on how Local Land Charges operate and discussed the LLC1 and CON29 searches.
