On Tuesday 29th November, Severn Trent Searches hosted a Residential CPD conference in Loughborough.
The three hour course was attended by over 60 conveyancing professionals from the Midlands.
Delegates received presentations from three speakers on a range of topics:
Gary Miller, Senior Strategic Account Manager from Groundsure spoke regarding a range of environmental issues, including contaminated land, flood risk and planning issues. Severn Trent Searches have worked closely with Groundsure for a number of years, and full details of the range of searches offered can be found on our Environmental Searches page.

Following Gary, Andy Lucas, Managing Director of Property Assure spoke regarding subsidence, and their newly launched Subsidence Search. Although less high profile than flooding, insurers receive far more claims for subsidence damage annually. Severn Trent Searches were the first company to offer this, unique, low cost screening report.

Finally, Owen Davies, Business Development Manager at Severn Trent Searches spoke on the CON29DW Drainage and Water Enquiry and the recent Private Sewer Transfer. Although the transfer has in most cases reduced the liability for homeowners, there are a number of implications that conveyancing practitioners need to be aware of.

Feedback from delegates was very positive, with the day being described as “informative and excellent”.
Severn Trent Searches works closely with customers, and can provide CPD presentations on both residential and commercial drainage and water searches, as well as the private sewer transfer.
