Today is World Water Day (22nd March)
Water is a basic requirement for all life, yet water resources are facing increasing demands from, and competition among, users. As a means of focusing attention on the global water and sanitation crisis for much of the developing world, the United Nations designated 22 March as World Water Day.
According to the World Health Organization;
'884 million people in the world (roughly 1/8 of the global population) do not have access to safe drinking water.'
'2.6 billion people do not have access to adequate sanitation'
'1.4 million children die every year as a result of water-borne diseases.'
Help Severn Trent Services support World Water Day on 22 March or any other day this week by inviting family, friends and colleagues to donate and help raise funds for WaterAid, who can continue providing safe and sanitary water supplies to people across the world.
Donations may be given online at http://www.worldwaterday.org or help Severn Trent Services by giving at www.justgiving.com/STSWalkForWater2011
Please support World Water Day to improve access to safe drinking water for people in the developing world.
